Six phases. Drawn from ritual, not software. This structure applies to a 90-second AR activation and a 3-day installation. Scale changes. The pattern does not.
Threshold
You cross from ordinary into sacred space.DESIGN ELEMENTS

Container
The space holds you.DESIGN ELEMENTS
Gallery walls, spatial audio boundary, VR room, the Oculus architecture itself, the 40-foot shipping container.

Sequence

Witness

Transformation
Something shifts in you.DESIGN ELEMENTS
The Turn — fire erupts, particles dissolve, color drains, the personal becomes universal. This is where magic psychology (Pledge/Turn/Prestige) concentrates.
RI EXAMPLES
Douglass: "NOT MINE" floats as amber drains. Constitution burns. "A SHAM" forms from ashes. Obelisk: 130 years of erosion vs. 3,000 years of desert preservation.

You carry something back.DESIGN ELEMENTS
Souvenir card, gold tarot, letter written, credential earned, Wrapped-style personal summary, story to tell at dinner.
RI EXAMPLES
Gold tarot card (NFC-enabled). Letter box submission read at closing. Open Badge credential. Shareable "I woke up Cleopatra's Needle" card. Calligraphy they practiced by hand.
